Como consecuencia de la votación celebrada en Suiza el 9 de febrero de 2014, la Unión Europea decidió reajustar las condiciones de participación del país en los programas financiados con fondos comunitarios, por lo que Suiza, a partir del curso 2014/2015 no es un país elegible dentro del programa Erasmus+.
Para poder continuar intercambiando estudiantes con universidades de este país se hace necesario dar otra denominación a dichos intercambios y la Universidad de Salamanca ha decidido establecer el programa denominado "Programa de Movilidad Internacional con Suiza", al amparo del cual podrán continuar ofreciéndose estancias, en las mismas condiciones que se ofrecen a los becarios Erasmus pero teniendo en cuenta la diferencia en el sistema de financiación y con un modelo de nombramiento distinto. El gobierno suizo financia las becas a sus estudiantes y también a los estudiantes extranjeros que reciben en sus universidades.

As a result of the vote held in Switzerland on February 9th 2014, the European Union decided to adjust the conditions for participation of the country in programmes financed with EU funds. Consequently, and since 2014/15 academic year, Switzerland is not eligible within the Erasmus programme.
In order to continue exchanging students with Swiss universities, it was necessary to give another denomination to these exchanges, and the University of Salamanca decided to establish the programme called "International Mobility Program with Switzerland" (SMP), under which Switzerland will continue offering stays under the same conditions that the Erasmus mobilities but with different funding system and appointment model. The Swiss government finances the scholarships both for Swiss students and to the incoming students in their universities.
